Daine ( Local Witch)
A Daine, in Mauritius is comparable to a common witch but is one who practice sexual magic. The White Lady
It is often said that in many places a woman in white wearing a shawl that would hide her face would appear. There are several versions of the appearances of the white lady. It is said that the white lady is a hitchhiker. If you take it, it just warns you to be careful just before a turn and mysteriously disappears after the turn. On the other hand, if you leave it on the road, you may become a victim of a fatal accident . She usually sits at the back when she enters the car and don’t talk but look only right in front of her. She usually haunts the location where she died and walk along the road side by midnight to three o'clock waiting for travelers.

Touni Minuit
In the year 1994, in a little village of Lallmatie, not far from Flacq, some frightened locals report being victims of a supernatural being, capable of turning into a wolf, a dog, a cat, a monkey or a bat. They specify that in its human form, its naked body is coated with oil, which makes its capture impossible. Propagated by the media and the gossip, the rumor swells, and the whole island emerged into terror. It is said that the monster, quickly named Touni Minuit because of his nakedness and his habit of striking at night, takes advantage of the darkness to sneak into homes and abuse girls as well as attack residents.

The Ghost of Balaclava
In 2003, a young man from China is on vacation in Mauritius. He walks in the evening at Balaclava and decides to take a picture of himself. However, after having printed the picture, he notices that he is not alone. A ghost; a woman, was staying still behind hir shoulder. It is said that the soul of a girl who had been raped and killed came back to haunt her aggressors.
